what we do
Our work with girls and women
Platform 51 offers activities and programmes from the safety of our women-only centres. We offer support, choices and opportunities to young women.
In groups and individually, we provide:
- the opportunity to learn new things, and the chance to get qualifications
- general information
- health information and education
- residential experiences and outdoor education
- volunteering
- campaigning
- help for women leaving the criminal justice system
- support for pregnant teenagers and young mums
- counselling
- creches so that women can take part in our activities, knowing their children are cared for.
We create all our programmes in conjunction with young women, so we know we're giving them what they want. We listen to what they have to say, and we don’t judge them. For some girls this is a revelation!
have they been useful?
If you've found our resources useful or downloaded any of them, then please consider making a donation to Platform 51.

“Before I came to Platform 51 I was being bullied and hardly spoke to anyone. Platform 51 has given me the confidence to face my challenges.” Lorna, 15
Support us
“Please support Platform 51, without them I don’t like to think where I’d be” Rochelle 18
We think
…girls and young women need practical and sensible sex education if they are to make realistic, informed and considered choices when they do become sexually active
