what we do
mental health campaign
what we want
Our research reveals a real crisis women’s mental health. Women are not receiving adequate care and support for their mental health problems and the remedies they are given are not working.
This is what we want:
- We want an immediate and comprehensive review of the support offered to women with mental health problems.
- There should be a review of the use of prescription drugs and antidepressants. Are they really appropriate? Girls and women tell us they need access to other therapies.
- Girls and women need to be able to get information, advice and guidance services so they can make choices about their health and wellbeing.
- We want GPs, health visitors, midwives and other care providers receive training on girls’ and women’s mental health and wellbeing.
- The causes and consequences of mental health problems need to be tackled to help women build resilience and prevent problems from escalating. Funding need to be made available for a range of interventions to do this.
We will be working with local and national government, with partners, local service providers, with health providers and agencies to encourage these things to happen.
Full details of all our recommendations can be found on page 16 of our report.
