Major giving
Your gift will have a major impact
It takes strength and determination to challenge deep-rooted gender discrimination; much of which is subtle or misunderstood. We have been challenging prejudice and helping women to take control of their lives since 1855. Since then, we have relied on charitable donations. Your gift will have a major impact: it will help to fund our face-to-face work and support our campaigns.
If you feel strongly about things that affect women and you want to do something positive to help, let us act on your behalf.
What’s special about us
Women and girls are at the very heart of everything we do. They guide our services and campaigns so our work is genuinely participative. This helps them build confidence and gives them real transferable skills they can use in all areas of their lives.
How we work
We will allocate a member of staff to be your personal contact. They will advise you on everything from projects for school-age girls to tax efficient giving.
The benefits to you
We will recognise and acknowledge your gift according to your wishes. You will have the opportunity to visit our centres or outreach programmes, mentor women and come to our events.
The most important benefit of all doesn’t come from us. It comes from the knowledge that your money is making a real and lasting difference to girls like Becky and Sherelle.
Social investment
Statistics show that women disproportionately and continuously work in the lowest paid jobs and live in most deprived areas. Improving social mobility would boost the economy by up to £140 billion a year by 2050 in today’s prices (Sutton Trust, The Mobility Manifesto 2010).
For the last two years the number of children living in poverty in the UK has risen and rising unemployment is a major factor in child poverty. In some communities unemployment still spans four generations.
Investing £20,000 could save the taxpayer £280,000. For every pound invested in support-focused alternatives to prison, £14 worth of social value is generated to women and their children, victims and society in general over ten years.
We have ambitious plans for the future and we hope you will be part of it.

it's tax efficient
giving a major gift is tax efficient
You can personally reclaim what you donate to charity on the tax you pay over 20%. The more you give the more you can offset against tax. Just include details of your charitable gifts on your tax form. Our staff will advise you about making your donation tax efficient.
anonymous donor says
"I hope your invaluable work will go from strength to strength" said one anonymous donor in the north of England who generously gave us more than £60,000.
