I fell pregnant at 17
by Claire
I am constantly looked down upon and people assume I am a bad parent.
I fell pregnant at 17. I went to see the doctor and she said: "what can I do for you?" I said "I'm pregnant". She replied with "and what do you expect me to do about it?" So from day one I was judged.
I am constantly looked down upon and people assume I am a bad parent. Laurelle, my daughter is now 6. I am so proud of her, she is doing fantasticly at school and I love her to pieces.
I am currently studying for a youth and community work degree, and am very proud of myself. It has been hard. But the hardest thing is challenging the discrimination and oppression society throws at you because you choose a different path in life instead of the 'norm'. For the future I want to work with young parents and challenge society's stereotypes!
